Remove Negative Energy Spell: Seven Myths I Hear All the Time, and What's Actually True
There's a conversation I end up having almost every week. Someone tells me their life has felt off for months. Things keep going wrong, the house feels heavy, and they're tired in a way sleep doesn't fix. Then, a little embarrassed, they ask whether they've been cursed.
Usually they haven't. But usually something is going on, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a scary one. So here are the seven myths that come up most often when people ask about a remove negative energy spell, and what I've found to be true instead.
Myth: if everything is going wrong, someone must have cursed you.
This is the big one, and it's the one I most want to clear up. Real curses are rare. What's common is a buildup of heavy energy from ordinary life. A bitter breakup. A job where someone resented you for two years. A family member who calls only to complain. A home where people argued a lot. None of that needs a villain behind it. It just accumulates, the way dust does in a room nobody opens.
The truth is that negative energy is usually less dramatic than people fear and more fixable than they think. If a caster tells you you're cursed and quotes you a price to lift it, then finds a second curse the following week, please walk away.
Myth: negative energy is all in your head.
On the other end, some people get told they're imagining it. I don't think they are. When clients describe the same things over and over, I take it seriously. They feel drained after certain people. They have a run of small bad luck that keeps stacking up. They dread walking into one particular room. Their dreams are restless. Those patterns are real, even when the cause is ordinary.
The truth sits in the middle. You're not cursed, and you're not making it up. Your energy has picked up weight that doesn't belong to you.
Myth: a cleansing has to be dramatic to work.
People sometimes expect a big moment, like a rush of feeling or a sign in the sky. That's not how it usually goes. When I do a spiritual cleansing ritual, I'm working on the energy around you and your space, clearing out what's settled there. What people tend to notice afterward is quiet. The air at home feels lighter. They sleep a little better. The thing that used to set them off doesn't land as hard.
Quiet is good. Quiet means it's working.
Myth: once you clear negative energy, it's gone forever.
I wish. Cleansing clears what's there now, but life keeps happening. If the same draining person is still in your life, or you go straight back into the same tense situation, energy can build up again.
That's why cleansing and protection work so well together. The cleansing clears it out, and a shield keeps more from settling in. The protection & boundaries spell is good for guarding against specific toxic people. The guardian angel protection spell gives a broader shield for your aura in general. Plenty of my clients book a cleansing and a protection spell at the same time, and it makes complete sense. I wrote more about how protection fits in after a hard relationship in my post on protection after a breakup.
Myth: you can't do anything about a person who keeps bringing negativity into your life.
You can, though it helps to be clear about what kind of help you want. Protection guards you from their energy. If you want the person themselves to drift out of your life, a banishing spell works on creating that distance. It isn't about harming them. It's about loosening their hold on your days so they stop showing up in the middle of everything.
Some people use all three. Banish the influence, cleanse what it left behind, and protect the space afterward. Those spells cover different ground, and together they do more than any one of them alone.
Myth: it should feel better overnight.
Sometimes it does. More often it's gradual. As a rough guide only, many people notice a lighter feeling within the first week or two. Deeper shifts, like a long run of bad luck easing off, can take a few weeks or more. That's a loose pattern, not a promise, and everyone's timing is different. If you're curious about timing more generally, I went into it in Do Spells Really Work?
While you wait, small practical things help. Open the windows. Clear the clutter that's been bugging you. Spend less time with the people who leave you wiped out. And give yourself credit for noticing something was off in the first place. A lot of people push through for years before they do.
Myth: you need to know exactly what caused it before anything can help.
People sometimes hold off for months because they can't name the source. Was it the ex, the old apartment, the coworker, or just a hard year? Honestly, you don't need a neat answer before you ask for help. Cleansing works on what's sitting with you now, wherever it came from. If you do have a clear idea of the source, that helps me choose what to pair it with. If you don't, that's completely normal. Most heavy energy comes from a mix of things, and it rarely arrives with a label attached. Tell me what you've been feeling and what's been going wrong, in your own words, and we can start there.
What's actually true, when you strip the myths away, is fairly simple. Heavy energy builds up in normal lives. It's not a judgment on you, and it's not usually anyone's evil plan. It can be cleared, and you can protect yourself from more of it.
If you've been feeling that weight, you don't have to keep carrying it.
