Do Spells Really Work? An Honest Guide to Spellwork

6 min read

The question usually comes in sideways. Someone messages me about a reading, asks two or three polite things about timing, and then, right at the end, types it: "Sorry, but do spells actually work?" Almost everyone apologizes for asking. You shouldn't. It's the most sensible question there is, and you deserve a straight answer before you spend a cent.

So here's mine, from someone who does this work every day and has no interest in selling you a fairy tale.

Do spells really work?

Yes, in my experience they do. Not like a vending machine, and not in a way anyone can promise. But I've seen enough to know that focused spellwork shifts things. A conversation that was impossible last month suddenly happens. A person who felt stuck in grief starts sleeping through the night. Someone who'd been pulling away turns back toward the relationship.

What spells don't do is cancel out free will, or rewrite someone's whole personality. If a caster tells you a spell will make anyone do anything, walk away. That isn't confidence. It's a sales pitch.

The honest version is less dramatic and, I think, more useful. A spell adds weight to one side of the scale. It makes a certain outcome easier and more likely. It doesn't make it certain.

How do spells work?

Everything carries energy: people, relationships, the bond between two people, even a stubborn silence. A spell is focused intention directed at that energy for a specific purpose. When I cast, I'm working with the connection between you and whatever you want to change. That might mean softening a block, strengthening a bond, or clearing out something that's been interfering.

I don't need a big theatrical setup to do that. The work is in the focus, the intention, and knowing how to direct energy cleanly. Your situation matters a lot too. The details you share about the people involved, what happened, and what you actually want all shape the working. That's why I always ask questions before I cast. A vague request gets a vague result.

Do love spells work?

Love spells are what most people come to me for, so this deserves its own answer.

They can work very well, but "love spell" covers a lot of ground. Getting an ex to reach out is a different working from drawing them back with real feeling. And both are different from removing someone who's interfering, or helping you let go of a person you know isn't good for you.

I've written about each of these in more depth:

Love spells work best when there's still a real thread between two people. If there was genuine feeling once, there's usually something to work with.

How long does a spell take to work?

Treat anything I say here as a rough guide, not a schedule. Every situation moves at its own pace.

Generally, lighter work like contact spells tends to show something sooner, sometimes within one to three weeks. Deeper work, like full reconciliation or repairing a damaged relationship, often takes longer, more like one to three months, because two lives have to shift to make room for it. Some clients see movement within days. Others wait longer than they'd like, and then several things happen at once.

What slows things down? Long periods apart, a very bitter ending, or a lot of outside pressure from friends, family, or a new partner. None of those make a spell useless. They just mean there's more energy to move.

Signs a spell is working

The first signs are often small, and people miss them because they're waiting for fireworks.

  • They suddenly appear in your dreams, or you notice their name more than usual

  • A mutual friend mentions them out of nowhere

  • They view your stories or profile again after weeks of nothing

  • You feel calmer about the situation, even though nothing outward has changed yet

  • Brief, almost accidental contact, like a "happy birthday" or a reply to something old

A sign isn't the finish line. Treat it as a good indication the energy is moving, and try not to pounce on it.

Can you cast more than one spell at once?

Yes, and it often makes a lot of sense. Spells and readings work well together because most real situations have more than one layer.

Say your partner has gone quiet and you think someone else is in the picture. A banish third party spell works on the interference, while a contact me spell works on communication. Or a return to me spell can sit alongside a repair relationship spell, so you're drawing them back and strengthening the bond at the same time. Many of my clients combine work like this, and it covers more ground than any single spell could.

White magic vs black magic

People ask about this a lot, often because they've seen frightening videos online. Here's how I work.

I don't do harmful work. No curses, no hexes, nothing designed to hurt anyone, including the person who hurt you. Every spell I cast is aimed at love, protection, clarity, healing, or removing an unwanted influence. Even a third party removal is about creating distance, not causing damage.

Ethical spellwork, sometimes called white magic, still respects free will. It nudges and opens doors. It doesn't trap people. If a caster offers to "destroy" someone or make them suffer, that tells you everything you need to know about them.

How to choose a real spell caster

There are plenty of people online calling themselves spell casters. A few things separate the genuine ones:

They're honest about limits. A real spell caster won't guarantee results or give you a fixed date. Promises like "100% guaranteed in 24 hours" are a warning sign.

They ask about your situation. If someone casts for you without knowing anything about the people involved, it isn't personal work.

They don't use fear. Be careful of anyone who tells you you're cursed and need to pay to have it lifted, then finds a new curse the following week.

They're reachable. You should be able to ask questions and get a thoughtful answer back, not silence once you've paid.

What to do after a spell is cast

This part is on you, and it really does make a difference.

Get on with your life as normally as you can. Constantly checking for signs keeps your energy tangled up in worry instead of letting the work move. Don't send long emotional messages to "test" whether it worked. If they do reach out, respond warmly but naturally. Look after your sleep and your mood, and spend time with people who make you feel steady. The calmer you are, the cleaner the energy around the situation.

Why spells sometimes don't work

I'd rather be upfront about this than have you find out the hard way.

Sometimes the other person has truly closed the door, and no amount of energy can make that choice for them. Sometimes there's a block nobody knew about, like a new relationship, heavy outside influence, or old resentment that needs clearing first. And sometimes the timing just isn't right yet.

When a spell doesn't seem to be moving, it's worth checking in rather than giving up. A no contact love reading or a love psychic reading can show what's in the way, and often points to the work that will help most next.

Quick answers to common questions

Do I need to do anything myself? No. I do the casting. Your part is to share your situation honestly and give the work some breathing room.

Will the other person know a spell was cast? No. They'll simply notice their own feelings or impulses, like thinking about you more or feeling a pull to get in touch.

Can a spell backfire? Ethical work aimed at love, protection, or healing isn't designed to cause harm. The bigger risk is unrealistic expectations, which is why I'm careful about how I talk about results.

Should I get a reading first? It's a good place to start if you're unsure what's going on, and readings pair well with any spell.

A soft next step

If you already know what you want, have a look at the contact me spell, the return to me spell, or the banish third party spell. If you'd like clarity first, start with a love psychic reading.

Take one, or put a few together. Either way, you'll get careful work and a straight answer whenever you ask.
